Dressing for Success and Making a Difference

Simply put, taking care of ourselves is somehow connected with remembering our unique gifts, talents, and personhood. We can celebrate who we are.

For a few years, I’ve wanted to create a fundraiser to sponsor Dress for Success. This month, the women on my sales team have come together and we’re making it happen!

Dress for Success is an organization, created by women, for women, to help those in need re-enter the workforce. But they’re not a job placement company: they’re a clothing warehouse. Women leave Dress for Success in business clothes donated from others’ closets. They feel good about the way they look, a piece of that confidence we all desire. It’s the final touch to be poised for interviews or a new job.

In my jewelry sales experience, one of the first transformations I noticed was that when women look good, they feel confident. Some clients arrive already aware of this, already in style, already quite bejeweled, and ready for more! But others are less so. Over the years, I’ve been very touched that how a little piece of jewelry, sometimes combined with a little piece of fashion advice just for that woman’s style, can lift her up. Sure, maybe it’s a moment for some. But for a surprising many, it’s a journey where they again reclaim their beauty and start to pay attention to it.

Our goal is to help each client at Dress for Success Portland/Vancouver celebrate her unique beauty, and gift each one a new pair of these beautiful posts. Through our "Pair that Cares" program we hope to give more than just a pair of earrings, we want women to feel and look their very best. Whether it compliments her suit, boosts her interview confidence or simply reminds her that someone cares...wouldn't you like to be a part of this?

Please join us this Friday, April 27, from 6-9 at the Beaverton Franklin Covey store, for a jewelry sale bonanza! You’ll enjoy desserts provided by Moonstruck Chocolates Beaverton and Cake U, wine, and swag bags for the first 50 guests! You’ll also enjoy custom consultations from the professionals there, who can put together amazing looks that suit your style. Can’t make it but want to support these beautiful women? Contact me to place your order!

And if you’re looking for that piece of fashion advice to tie into a look, consider this Bobbi Brown-designed scarf. Like it? I do.
