When I was growing up, I’d sit at my grandmother’s kitchen
table reading the many signs she had hung on her wall. Some of them were Irish
limericks, some old diner signs, but the one I can still remember is the sign
that read, “IF MAMMA AIN’T HAPPY, AIN’T NOBODY HAPPY”.
When I asked her what this meant, she laughed and said it
meant that the family’s happiness was a reflection of how the mom felt. I
believe it to be true! A mother wears so many different hats, and--more often
than not--their wants or needs fall by the wayside while caring for their
family.
Women need to look and feel good no matter what the tasks at
hand for the day may be. I love the way jewelry can change a mood as easily at
it changes an outfit. On any given weekend… Oh, who am I kidding? On any given day I may have to skip a
shower or at least styling my hair for the greater good of the children.
Getting to soccer games on time may mean mamma has to cut a few corners. However, adding a little bling to the
messy ponytail, yoga pants and tank adds a whole new twist and feeling to the day. Running into Starbucks in a hurry without jewelry and sporting a disheveled look says:
“I’m late…and yeah, that’s baby drool on my shirt!” Now rewind and enter with jewelry, it says: “I meant to throw this old outfit on as to
not completely intimidate you while donning my fabulous jewels, and yes, I have
a baby and look this great even when I’m running late!”
Our jewelry makes me feel like I have my armor on to face
whatever the day brings, and the extra 10 seconds I take to put it on makes me
feel pulled together all day long.
