Productivity and Creativity: They’re Yours, Claim Them
The past month, I’ve truly felt as if there weren’t enough hours in a day. The combination of a busy work schedule, kids out of school, college kids coming home, travel, and the need to be outside to enjoy some nice weather culminated in me needing to re-visit how I get my work done.
The past month, I’ve truly felt as if there weren’t enough hours in a day. The combination of a busy work schedule, kids out of school, college kids coming home, travel, and the need to be outside to enjoy some nice weather culminated in me needing to re-visit how I get my work done.
The timing of an article by Dan Logan points me in the right direction: “The key is to know what your natural daily rhythm is.”
Logan states, “It is to do creative work when you're naturally creative, and do productive tasks when you're naturally in ‘get it done’ mode.”
“Every person I've ever met, taught, or learned from, is more creative at some point in the day than others, so much so that they are a creative genius at some times. The same person is a productivity machine at other times in the day (or, a ‘productivity genius’). The key is to know what your natural daily rhythm is.”
Logan goes on to tell how to determine your most productive times of the day. It does sound like an effort, but if you’ve revisited your routines before, you know the payoff is huge. This is just about being smart with your time. For me, the work/life balance is so important. If I’m smart with my time, I’m happier, have more time to laugh and relax with my family, and feel better about my business.
If you can become 5 percent better at matching your time to your natural genius cycle, you'll net an extra day a month. Become 10 percent better and you get two. Many people find they can easily get a 30-50 percent gain. You do the math.”
