My Take on Spring Styles

Today I’m highlighting a variety of “new” looks for spring and summer, offering fantastic potential to every fashion personality. Here are five styles you’ll start noticing when you shop. How will you wear them?

1. Print-Ocracy
It’s all about striking prints. Some women love a splash of multi-color, while others choose geometrics. Prints make life interesting. Choose prints that work well with your body type and personal style, and you’ll wake up any room with a bit of style personality.

2. Stripe Hype
Stripes fit with any personal style. They’re probably going to look more nautical and fit easily into the wardrobes of you classic ladies, but that doesn’t limit them to classics. Your choice of shoes and accessories completely changes the stripes flair into a look that demonstrates your style. A more dramatic look goes with a high heel and hat, casual bohemian with a vest and soft braid. Stripe hype is a classic theme, so add your personal flair by looking for the details: how you wear your hair, accessories and shoes.

3. Separatist
Set yourself apart. This is where you can go “outside your box” a little bit. Go bold somewhere. Try a bold-print shoe, or a bold-colored small clutch. Keep it in scale to your body size. It’s about being bold, but you still want to reflect who you are. “Going bold” for one woman will yield a completely different result for another. It all depends on your personality, personal style and comfort with being a Separatist.

Going bold with your style can still reflect your personal look and signature. Pull it together with some extra flair but still celebrate your own unique style.

4. Proportion and Control
Proportion and Control means that long and lean proportions work for every body type. You don’t need to wear skinny pants to create a long, lean look; you need to learn how to put it all together.

Proportion and control (“Skinnie Minnie”) is about creating an elongated line by keeping proportions in control. For example, a wider leg jean would elongate a woman with a larger chest, as long as she pairs them with a fitted top. She will lose her length by choosing a loose, flowy top.) Bringing out your best features and putting everything into a classic proportion.

“Skinnie Minnie” is really an attitude. It’s a long and lean balance of proportions and an attitude about who you are. It’s a classic proportional silhouette, balancing out proportions to create a longer, leaner look.

If you need help figuring this out, schedule an appointment with me and I’ll teach you.

5. Mint Condition
It’s so nice to see mint making a return: a blue-green which is a natural, serene color. Minty fresh color is popping up everywhere.

You can choose an all-mint outfit as shown below, or mint anywhere: mint nails, a mint scarf. Designers are coming out with mint-colored jewelry. With mint, anything goes. There are no rules: you can wear all mint, or mix mint with other colors. This is another opportunity to stretch your fashion personality and try something new.

You can look fabulous with a bit of insight on how to put together your wardrobe! These images came from the CAbi blog, and show the style you'll see everywhere this season.
