Noticing NEON

Over the past six months, I’ve been fixated watching neon being reintroduced into the world. Far different from a somewhat bold and perhaps, obnoxious, brief appearance it made in 1987, these little splashes of neon are eye catching and energetic. A dash adds some life and a visual “pop” on any outfit.

Add a hint of neon to your jewelry, and you’ve got a creative new look. The eye follows the neon and then moves on to the beautiful pieces you’re wearing. Tassels are also on trend, so add something new to pieces you already own, and they become new, too.

In the home, your standard floral display become “not so standard”. I absolutely love the use of neon floral tape on these stems to make the display trendy, fun, yet even elegant. Creative!

And finally, your wardrobe. We see neon all over. It’s up to you to decide how to incorporate it. Many women fear “doing it wrong” and ending up with a look that’s too flashy or cheap. However, if you look at my photos in this blog, it’s just the touch of neon that turns your head. Consider adding just a touch—a tassel, handbag, bracelet, or one piece of an outfit ensemble—and move from predictable to on-trend. Here’s an article with some great examples of classy ways to incorporate this bolder look into your wardrobe.

Neon radiates energy and confidence. It’s fun. Even if you’re going to work or taking your children to the park, caring for an elderly parent or cleaning house, add some spunk to your day with neon. Others will enjoy it, too. Try it…then count the comments you receive!
