After seeing
everyone off, I put the house in order. I pick up, clean up, light some candles
for their homey scent, and assess the kitchen stock and weekly meals. Once my
home is prepared and settled, it is functional for my family and they’re taken
care of. It makes me feel good, too.
I’m trying to
integrate crock pot Mondays so I can focus on other things and the dinner will
be ready on time. Sometimes I remember too late in the day to turn it on, but
the more dinner prep I do earlier in the day (any day) yields a smoother, more
free afternoon.
Recently I also
participated in a 12-week Bible study. On Mondays! That was a great way to
begin the week: with positive affirmation and time with my girlfriends.
My style is not one that can micro-manage
the whole day because that’s not fun and spontaneous for me; I feel too
restricted. Because I’m people oriented and not task oriented, I need pockets
of time in my day to pick up and do something spontaneous. So I need to make
sure I get those other tasks done before I treat myself to people time. Talking
to clients, tea with a girlfriend, a walk with a neighbor. Those are the true
perks I can enjoy if I make my Mondays count.
If I can set up
Monday like it is spring, and stay more focused, it sets the tone for the rest
of the week. My family life is ready, my week is mapped out, and there’s time
for work and fun because I’m organized. Voila!
